The University of Arizona reports its faculty demographics using a yearly fall census file. A census file is a snapshot of data at a point in time that will not be updated with changing demographics. Census files ensure reliability (historical reports can be replicated) and comparability (especially with other institutions' counts), and produce meaningful trends over time.
- Ethnicity Grouping: Based upon the known population only: Minority, White, and Nonresident Alien. Employees with unknown race/ethnicity are excluded from the calculation. Minority includes African American or Black, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, Asian, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and 2 or More Races.
