Data Reference refers to the processes and technologies used for recognizing data across an organizational hierarchy and creating references across the data domains. Another aspect of data reference management is identifying the connection and crosswalk of information between source systems in which certain data elements do not directly align. For example, UAIR developed a reference table that allows the EDW to pull information about campus departments from multiple source systems and consolidate that information into a standardized format for reporting. UAIR also has the ability to connect and map in reference data from external sources, such as Standard Occupation Classification (SOC) and Classification of Instructional Program (CIP) codes.
