The ranking data listed below are not meant to be a comprehensive list because not all media reports are equally influential or equally sensible.
In general, there is wide variation in the data that inform these rankings, ranging from information collected from IPEDS and other publicly available sources, to detailed surveys that institutions must complete with their own data, to reputational surveys of peer organizations and high-school counselors.
