Market scene. Almost entirely manihot. Here it is often moldy on the outside when placed in the market. There are also beans, eggplant and a little corn. Corn is always sold as soon as husk turns brown or yellow. It is roasted and eaten as parched corn, too hard for our liking. [Shantz travel journal, Feb. 27, 1920]
