Description:
Grass with taller trees, taken where blowout stopped train. Mahobo like tree and cotton leaf, two both in photo. ... a burst steam pipe holds us here almost half a day. It is the tree savanna type - grass about as tall as your head and trees 20 ft. or so. Mostly mahobo type, Brachystegia, Bauhinia, fine leaf acacia like, etc., with a good growth of grass and a few Alphia like Zingiberaceae, and legume. [Shantz travel journal, Jan. 31, 1920]
