Elephant bush - a large tree, Portulacaria afra, not seen in flower - looks very stiff and harsh but is very soft. The chief food of the elephant. Also a Rhus? and the boerboom, or Schotia. Also Ziziphus, lianas and leafless euphorbias. [Shantz travel journal, Sep. 5, 1919]
