Summary: 
Though not focusing on the southwest, this document is valuable. It relates a dance introduced by the Dominicans in which converts dance before a statute of St. Gonzalo de amarante. Beristain condemns the practice. The piece reflects the mixture of Pagan and catholic ritual, and efforts to control it. (J. Grusin) (1976)
